A Simple Request

Over the years I have received many emails from people who have used my Unofficial Icecast HowTo. They have been very complimentary. I had thought to hopefully publish a more complete version of the HowTo in book format. But it appears that may not happen in the near future. I have spoken to many publishers about an icecast book and my idea has not been well received. Their argument that this is too much a niche market is perhaps correct, but I am still of the opinion that an icecast book could hold its own. Still, no one has come forward even after several proposal attempts.

Still, I think it more important that a simple Icecast HowTo is available online than for me to publish yet another book. Who knows? Perhaps I can do like Mark Pilgrim and his web site Dive Into Python and have this page be picked up by some other publisher at a later date. I highly recommend Mark's site and the book of the same name. Apress has shown great initiative by publishing an existing web page into hard copy.

My only request is the following; for those of you who have used this book and have found it useful, I would like nothing more than a simple postcard from your home town or current place of residence or work. A picture postcard of something unique to your location would be great. As you may see in this book or in any of my other writings, I have lived in quite a few places, Germany and Brazil being the two main locales. It would be nice to get a picture postcard from someone in Russia (in which language I have also dabbled and can speak reasonably well) or from some other remote location. But even a postcard from Omaha, Nebraska would be well appreciated.

You can send any postcards to the following address:

Kerry J. Cox
7438 Hawthorn Glen Circle
West JordanUtah 84084
USA

This is my home address. I will make a point to post all postcards on my walls. I'll also scan as many of the cards I receive and post them to this website as well. Thanks again for all your support. I look forward to making this HowTo as complete as possible. I am always open to constructive criticism. Any suggestion for additions or improving the existing content is appreciated.

This HowTo is still not complete, and it may never be completely finished. But it is probably done enough to help others. I hope to add more to this book's content in the next few weeks. Please be patient.
